Video Is Like Pizza, Even When It’s Bad It’s Still Pretty Good
We all have that bomb pizza place that we love to order from or stop into, you know that place where a slice costs $5. Then there are also those chain pizza places where you can get an entire pizza for $5. One is amazing the other might not be the best but it’s still pizza and truth be told you are still going to eat it.
I have two predictions, one Amazon is eventually going to take over the world one day and two videos is eventually going to take over all the social media channels. If you aren’t doing a video on social media, I’m here to tell you that you are missing out on potential customers, clients, and connections in general.
I get it, curating a beautiful “on brand” 1×1 square photo is 100 times easier than changing out of your sweats, cleaning off your desk, clicking record and talking shop to your audience. Video adds so much more to your “brand” than a well-curated photo, video adds both personality and personal touch.
Video builds trust. Think about this I can read what you are throwing at me in the caption of that beautifully curated 1×1 square photo. But what I want to hear is your voice. I want to know why I should choose you over the 20 other people that are also offering what you are doing. You know your brand better than anyone. Your personal investment, however, can be difficult to put into written words for others, so tell me. Show me, show your audience, talk like we are sitting and having coffee. Better yet, sit with a cup of coffee or wine and talk to me. Tell me your story, make me trust you. Gaining trust means gaining friendship, which leads to word of mouth referrals, which leads to Benjamin’s in your pocket.
Video engages even the laziest buyers. Let’s be honest, you have 3 seconds to capture someone’s attention. Today’s life is too busy to sit and read long Instagram captions and blog posts. (Hopefully, you are still reading this, fingers crossed) We live in a time where people’s attention spans are so much shorter, the modern consumer wants to see the product in action and listen to what the service is
Video encourages social shares. Want to get your name out there, create good content that people are going to share. Video is getting shared more than a beautiful photo, and you know what your business name is attached to that video. It may not go viral but you may reach an entirely new audience.
The biggest reason in my eyes to start getting comfortable with video content on social media is you can begin to embed it on your website because Google absolutely loves videos. Here’s a powerful statistic, you are 53 times more likely to show up first in a Google search if you have a video on your website. Uh hello, when I read that my brand photographer and I started strategizing a video to live on my website. Here’s the thing, you don’t even have to talk. Show a video of you doing your thing, your product something relevant to your website. 53 times more likely, are your video brain wheels spinning yet?
