I can’t believe it’s just been just over a month since we all gathered together in Portland. It truly feels like it was ages ago, but I think it’s because so much has happened in the last month. It has truly been full of amazing reflection; collaborations galore; team building; and planning. But most importantly…the birth of a new community. That I am forever grateful for.
We had some incredible women come and speak from all over the U.S. including Canada!
There were heartfelt talks, real and raw conversations, tears of joy and empathy, so much laughter and new friendships that were born out of all of this.
Somehow, we were able to bring together women from all types of industries, different levels in their businesses, even ladies who were just starting out! I was so incredibly blown away by the amount of love and support given by each attendee, speaker and it truly melted my heart.
But let me get real for a minute. This was my first time EVER creating a conference or experience like this. I did it in 4 months(I don’t know what I was thinking), and it was pretty incredible. I really felt and still feel so proud of what I was able to put together and accomplish with just a little determination. Let’s be honest — there were some of those “there’s no way” voices that were in the back of my head, they came not by me, but by some who may not have had faith in what I could do in such a short amount of time, or why I would even do something like this. But I honestly used it as fuel for my fire to keep it going. Boy did that work! The best part is along the way I found women who did believe in me and kept me going by supporting and joining along with me as the planning continued.
The women who spoke were a mix of women I’ve never met, women who I’d admired from afar and never thought they’d ever give my event the light of day (mind-you…not because they were “mean girls” or anything – but because I felt like “why would this amazing professional woman who has it all together come all the way to Portland to speak at my small event that NOBODY…literally nobody knows about or ever heard of before?”) However, I asked anways. And wouldn’t you know the women who came back were some of my dream speakers. I was baffled, and so honored.
If nothing else I want to show you that it’s possible to take a random idea, and no matter your timeline, there is a way to make it happen. The point is. You just have to do it. Get started. Take the plunge AND GO! If you don’t, someone else might. Then you’ll be sitting there regretting not doing it and thinking, why didn’t I?
Don’t let other’s tell you it’s not possible. Or that you won’t be able to pull it together. Because they are the ones who are wrong, and truly it’s probably because they couldn’t, and they are putting their own fears on you.
Don’t be discouraged. You can always improve what you do, and make it better. You won’t always know what to do, how to start, where it will go or what you’ll need. There will be TONS of unanswered questions you’ll need to learn along the way. But you won’t know what those questions are until you start. Sometimes you have to pave your own path and just ask as you go.
I’m still amazed that – what was an idea I casually brought up to my husband last August, is now reality, and now it’s growing to bring more and more to you wonderful bossladies.
We at TOGETHER – are here to encourage you, inspire you, make you feel like you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to. We are the voices in your head that will always be by your side when you have those crazy ideas and instead of saying “that might be too hard” we’ll be the ones saying “how can I help?”.
So…with that…I really just want to formally say…
Thank you so much to all of the amazing speakers:
Thank you to my helpful conference team that showed up and helped me without hesitation as things got closer and closer to the final date:
